Petey's lawns

About Petey's lawns

Summer dusk in Hale County lasts an hour longer than it has any right to, and the light goes pink over the playa lakes east of Seth Ward. Petey's lawns finishes the day's mowing in that stretch, running the edger down a walk while the air finally cools off. High plains grass grows in bursts after rain and then waits, so the route flexes with whatever the weather has done that week. Trimming around clothesline posts and mesquite, blowing the drive clean, checking the line back from the street — that is the whole of it. A tidy yard on the flat land north of Plainview shows from a long way off.
