James's Lawn & Landscaping

About James's Lawn & Landscaping

Under a wide live oak, St. Augustine grows in a shifting patchwork — thick and blue-green where the light gets through, thin and reaching where it never does. Reading that patchwork is half of lawn work in Schertz: raising the deck a notch under the canopy, dropping it out in the open, letting the shaded runners keep the length they need to survive a Guadalupe County August. Mowing, edging, trimming, bed maintenance and general landscape upkeep hold the whole yard to one standard. The line along a driveway is where the effort shows most, a clean shoulder of turf standing straight up over bare concrete. When the afternoon light comes through the oak and lands in bands across a lawn that is even from fence to fence, the day has done what it was supposed to.
