Gecko Green

About Gecko Green

Around the first warm week of April the dormant lawns along Arapaho Road change over almost overnight, tan to green, block by block. Gecko Green works to that calendar in Richardson: pre-emergent down before the soil warms, feeding timed to the flush, broadleaf weeds handled while they are small and shallow-rooted. Blackland clay is rich and stubborn — it holds nutrients well and drains slowly — which is why aeration and honest mowing height matter as much as anything poured from a jug. Through the summer the routine stays steady: cut, edge, feed, and watch for chinch bug damage in the hot open stretches near the pavement. A thick lawn crowds out its own weeds, and that is the long game worth playing here.
