Duda Grass

About Duda Grass

The breeze in Raymondville comes off the Laguna Madre most mornings, salt-tinged and steady, rattling the fronds of the sabal palms before the day turns hot. Duda Grass is out early in it, mowing lawns that grow nearly year-round in this corner of the Rio Grande Valley and stop for almost nothing. The cut is even, the edges along walks and drives are cut back to bare concrete, and the trimmer sorts out the ground the mower cannot square up. Clippings get blown clear so the walk is clean underfoot when somebody steps out for the mail. In a place where grass never really rests, keeping a yard sharp week after week is the whole craft, and it is done gladly here.
