Yard Up

About Yard Up

New streets keep arriving in Princeton. Sod goes down in strips that still show their seams, young oaks stand staked against the prairie wind, and at dusk in late summer the porch lights come on one at a time down a block that was a hay field a year ago. Yard Up takes those lawns from raw to cared-for: mowing them into an even stand, cutting the first real edge where turf meets fresh concrete, trimming around posts and irrigation heads, and clearing the cuttings so the sidewalk stays the color it was poured. There is something worth doing in giving a brand-new yard its first honest line — it sets what the whole street looks like for years. They keep at it, house after house, as Princeton grows out toward the horizon.
