Preston has been a crossing point since cattle were swum across the Red River here, and the old road still runs south out of the bend. Patton mowing gets going in spring, when Bermuda breaks dormancy and the first cuts bring a yard back from winter tan to green. Mowing, edging, string trimming and hauling off the clippings make up the visit, on a schedule that tightens as the grass picks up speed. Watching a lawn recover its color over three weeks of cutting never gets old. Patton mowing covers Preston, Pottsboro, Gordonville and Denison.
