On Mustang Island the day opens with salt in the air and the sea oats all leaning one direction, while Port Aransas wakes to the sound of the ferry running. Coastal Scapes works yards built on sand, where the wind never really quits and the grass has to be tough enough to hold. Mowing, edging along shell drives and walks, trimming, and gathering the cuttings so nothing blows off into the dunes — steady care for a place that gets weathered on purpose. A tight green lot in front of a beach house, edges sharp against the pavement, is worth the extra effort out here. Port Aransas and across the water to Aransas Pass are both on the map.
