Buffalo Bayou curls along the southern edge of Piney Point Village, and the light coming off it late in the day turns every lawn a deeper green. Raven's Melody Landscape keeps its yards for that hour — grass cut even, the borders drawn tight, the last stray leaf carried off before dusk. Summer here is long and generous; the grass grows like it has somewhere to be, and someone has to answer it week after week. There is a small pleasure in the final pass of the mower, when the line lands true and the yard goes still. On these shaded streets between Voss and Chimney Rock, that stillness is the point.
