American Tree Care

About American Tree Care

Out on the Permian Basin the ground is caliche and the horizon is a ruled line, and every tree standing in Odessa is there because somebody hauled water to it. Summer arrives in triple digits with a wind that dries a leaf from the edge inward, and mesquite and desert willow hold on where softer species quit. American Tree Care works with that reality — pruning a young shade tree into balance, trimming out sun-scalded and wind-snapped wood, removing the ones a dry year finished off. Southwest of town the old meteor crater sits in the flats, a reminder that this country takes a hit and keeps its shape. When a spring storm rolls dust ahead of itself and leaves branches across a West Odessa yard, the crew cuts, loads, hauls and sweeps, and the drive is open again by evening.
