Only Mow

About Only Mow

O'Donnell sits on the South Plains where the horizon runs flat and unbroken in every direction, cotton rows marching toward it and the wind seldom taking a day off. This is the town where Dan Blocker grew up, and it still carries some of that big, easygoing West Texas spirit. Only Mow keeps its focus right in its name: mowing, done with care and nothing to distract from it. Out here grass earns every inch against dry heat and blowing dust, and a lawn kept even against the caliche-colored plains stands out like a small oasis. Toward evening the wind finally lays down, the sky goes huge and orange, and a fresh-cut yard looks especially fine in that long light.
