About Farm Tree Service

On the Llano Estacado every tree is a decision somebody made — planted, watered, and defended from a wind that crosses Bailey County with nothing in its way. Muleshoe understands shade the way a coast town understands a seawall, and the elms and locusts holding these windbreaks were set out on purpose, row by row. Farm Tree Service keeps them going: pruning young growth into a frame that can take the gusts, trimming out wind-broken wood, removing the ones a dry stretch finally beat. Out at the refuge the cranes drop onto the playas all winter and the sky is the entire horizon; in town, one shaped tree over a porch is what turns a house into a home place. After a plains storm the crew works the yard and the fence line, loads the brush and leaves the caliche swept.
