About Heart of Texas lawns

October in Moody turns the light long and gold, and the mowing settles into an easier rhythm the whole town seems to keep. Heart of Texas lawns tends yards from the streets near the school out to the places toward Mother Neff, where live oak and cedar crowd the fence lines and the cotton fields go pale at their edges. The work is plain and done all the way through: cut, edge, trim tight to the porch steps, rake down what falls, carry it off. There is real satisfaction in leaving a yard that looks like someone paid attention to it — the grass level, the beds free of runners, the front walk showing its own outline again. Moody is a small place, and a well-kept lawn is one of the ways it says so.
