South of town, where the roads run down toward the river and the fields open up, the little stone chapel at La Lomita sits in old shade and keeps its own hours. Trevino's landscaping works those southern blocks of Mission and the yards north of them, mowing grass to a clean even nap, edging the concrete, cutting the shrubs back so a house can breathe. Spring puts huisache in yellow along the fence rows and everything grows at once; that is when a steady mowing rhythm earns its keep. Debris is cleared, clippings hauled, walks left swept for the evening. There is pride in pulling up to a lawn that has gotten away from someone and leaving it squared away before dusk.
