About total maintenance

Along Bicentennial Boulevard the old brush at the McAllen Nature Center shows what this land does when nobody tends it — thorn and vine, chest-high inside a season. Keeping a lawn here is never one heroic afternoon; it is a return, week after week, and that return is the whole of the business at total maintenance. Mowing, edging, string trimming and cleanup on a steady cycle, hedge trimming when the shrubs push out of line, weed control so the caliche edges don't turn into a nursery. Rain arrives fast in the Valley and the grass answers overnight, so the schedule bends toward the weather instead of arguing with it. Nothing dramatic ever happens to a well-kept yard, and that is precisely the point.
