About Shane's Lawn Maintenance, Inc.

Mansfield still carries the names of the two millers who set a grist mill on the creek here, and downtown's old brick holds the light long into a Friday afternoon. Shane's Lawn Maintenance, Inc. spends those afternoons in the yards beyond Main Street — mowing on a route, edging walks and curb lines, trimming what a deck can't reach, and clearing the hard surfaces before the truck rolls. The clay underfoot goes stiff by August and soft after a storm, so each cut gets read against the ground it is standing on. There is a plain pleasure in the last pass over tall grass, when a lot that was shaggy at noon is squared away by supper. Work carries through Mansfield and out toward Burleson, Midlothian and Alvarado.
