Sauly’s landscaping

About Sauly’s landscaping

The first blue norther comes through Manor sometime in the fall, drops twenty degrees between lunch and supper, and shakes the pecans loose all over town. Sauly’s landscaping meets that turn head-on — raking and hauling off leaves and fallen limbs, cutting back the tired summer growth, trimming hedges into shape before the cool sets them, and keeping the mower going as long as the grass will answer. Beds get emptied of the year's litter, the edges get redrawn along walks and drives, and everything raked up leaves with the trailer. It is plain work and it shows plainly: a yard that reads tidy under a low winter sun. By the time the pecans near the city park stand bare, the lawns on the block are ready for the quiet months.
