The first real north wind of October comes through Lewisville overnight, and by morning a person can work all day without wringing out a shirt. That front changes the job — mowing eases off, the leaves start, and the fall round begins in earnest around Railroad Park and the blocks nearby. Lawns get cut and edged, beds get cleared out, leaves get gathered before they mat down, and overseeding goes out where a yard should stay green into the cold. Autumn is short in North Texas and worth spending well. A lawn put to bed properly in November is the one that comes back first in April.
