Before the subdivisions, this was oak savanna — scattered live oaks over open grass, a wide sky, hawks working the thermals above the Llano valley. Savanna Project keeps something of that in mind while it works: mowing and edging where a lawn is wanted, brush and cedar cleared where the oaks need room, native beds planted and mulched, trimming kept to what the plant actually needs. Kingsland summers run long and dry enough to reward that restraint, and the yards still look right come August because of it. Cleanup and hauling finish the day, and the ground is left open and easy to read. The work covers Kingsland, Llano, Buchanan Dam and Spicewood.
