Mir Garden

About Mir Garden

First light in Kerrville comes up over the hills and lays a thin dew on the Bermuda, and for about an hour the whole town smells like cut grass and cedar. Mir Garden starts there — mowing while the ground is still cool, edging the walks, working the trimmer around beds and stone borders where a mower deck can never quite reach. Down in the bottomland the soil is kinder and the grass grows thick; up the slope it is thin caliche and needs a lighter hand, and both get the one they need. Clippings come off the concrete before the truck moves on, so what's left behind is only the lawn. It is ordinary work, done early, and it makes a house look cared for from the street.
