Gecko Green

About Gecko Green

Around Cottonwood Valley the turf spends January the color of a paper bag and then, some week in April nobody can predict, decides all at once to be green. Gecko Green works the calendar that makes that turn dependable: feeding when the soil warms, staying ahead of the weeds that sprout before the bermuda does, treating the patches that come back thin. Fertilization and weed control are slow arts — the result shows up three weeks after the work, in color that holds through a hot stretch. Mowing and edging finish what the treatments start. A lawn that thickens until the weeds have nowhere left to stand is the whole ambition, and it is a very satisfying thing to watch happen.
