About Doctor Lawn

August in Harlingen is a long test of a lawn's patience, and St. Augustine tells on you fast when it is cut too low or too late. Doctor Lawn reads the grass first and decides after — mowing height set for the heat, edges cut in clean, the trimmer kept off trunks and away from the runners. Trimming, bed edging and a full cleanup close out the visit, so nothing is left to bake onto the walk. It is careful work, and it shows in a yard that is still holding green when the block goes straw-colored around the middle of the month. Grass in this climate does not need fuss; it needs the right cut at the right time.
