The San Gabriel River slips through Georgetown over shelves of pale limestone, gathering into the deep green water of the Blue Hole beneath sheer rock bluffs. Feral Form works in this river town where Hill Country limestone gives way to blackland prairie, and where thin soil over stone asks more of every lawn. By late summer, when the river runs low and clear over the ledges and the afternoons bake, yards here can look tired and scorched. Measured mowing, exact edging and attention to the overall shape of a yard bring them back to something lively and well-defined. The finished result feels rooted in the place, as though it grew up out of that same limestone.
