Evening along the Clear Fork, the Trinity Trails fill with runners and the cottonwoods let go of the day's heat. The yards above that green corridor get mowed on a weekly rhythm from March until the first hard norther, with edges run straight and clippings blown off the drive before the truck pulls away. Fertilization and weed control keep the Bermuda thick enough to crowd out the crabgrass that loves a Texas July. Come fall there are leaves to haul and beds to strip back for winter. It is ordinary work, and there is real satisfaction in a street where every mowed line still shows at dusk.
