Denmark Lawn

About Denmark Lawn

By late November the Fort Worth yards south of the university have gone quiet and tawny, and the last of the leaves are coming down onto grass that will not grow again until spring. Denmark Lawn works those brisk mornings clearing them off — out of the beds, off the turf, away from the driveway where they mat down after the first cold rain. Through the warm months the same route is a mowing route, edged along the walks, trimmed against the fences and blown clean each visit. A final low cut before dormancy leaves the lawn tidy for the winter it is about to sleep through. There is a particular pleasure in the last yard of the season, raked bare and waiting.
