Wildwood Land Management

About Wildwood Land Management

East of Forney the blackland prairie still shows itself between the new streets — heavy black soil that holds a rain for days, bois d'arc along the old fence lines, Mustang Creek running low and green beneath the bridges. Wildwood Land Management works the wide Kaufman County lots out there, the kind where a yard runs on toward pasture and someone has to decide where the mowing ends. Late August the Bermuda goes the color of straw, then the first real September rain brings it back almost overnight, and that is the week the whole job changes. The work is mowing, edging, string trimming, the blow-down afterward, shrub and hedge shaping, and the cleanups that come when the trees start letting go. What they are after is the line — grass on one side, gravel or bed on the other, cut sharp enough to read from the road at forty miles an hour.
