RJ's Maintenance

About RJ's Maintenance

Saturday mornings in the Lower Valley still smell faintly of irrigated field, and the road out toward Clint runs straight between cotton and pecan. RJ's Maintenance loads up early and works that direction, doing the yards where a house sits on a bigger piece of ground than the city allows. Mowing the open grass, edging what has edges, trimming the fence lines, cutting back the overgrowth that creeps in from the ditch bank — it all takes the whole morning and it all gets done. There is a plain satisfaction in a wide yard mown in even passes, seen from the gate on the way out. Out here, tidy ground reads as respect for the place.
