Out on the high plains of Donley County the wind is the weather, and it comes across the buffalo grass all day long with nothing to slow it. Clarendon holds its ground anyway — the old Saints' Roost townsite, the courthouse, the water shining north at Greenbelt Lake where the Salt Fork of the Red River gathers. Out The Mud Enterprises keeps the town's yards in order through all of it: mowing, edging along walks and drives, string trimming the fence lines, and clearing the cuttings so the wind has nothing to scatter. Under a Panhandle sky that big, a tight, well-cut yard is a small act of order, and it reads from a block away. The work covers Clarendon and out toward Howardwick and Hedley.
