October finally cools Cedar Hill down, the cedar elms start dropping small hard leaves across every front walk, and the whole town gets a few good weeks outside. Tom's Lawn Care moves through the neighborhoods one street at a time, cutting and edging the same yards often enough to know which one has the sprinkler head that hides in the turf. The leaves get gathered and taken out instead of pushed to the curb, the beds get cleared, and the shrubs get their last shaping before the cold. Mowing continues as long as the grass asks for it, then eases into the winter tidy-up. Knowing a street well is half the job, and it shows in how the whole block looks come Saturday.
