Fred's Lawn Care

About Fred's Lawn Care

After sundown the plant lights come up along the edge of Borger like a second small city, and the whole horizon glows faintly while the last heat leaves the ground. Fred's Lawn Care knows those long days — starting in cool dark, finishing when the buffalo grass out past the last block has gone gray-green in the dusk. In between it is mowing on a schedule, edges cut in sharp, trimming everywhere a mower deck will not reach, and clippings blown back off the concrete. Hutchinson County asks a lot of a lawn: hard water, hard wind, and a sun that means it from June to September. Keeping one looking even and cared-for through all of that is the quiet pleasure of the trade, and it is why the truck is out again the next morning.
