Dawn over this corner of Collin County is mostly horizon — winter wheat lying flat and green east of Blue Ridge, a dark line of trees, and the sun coming up out of it clean. LOREDO'S LANDSCAPING is already at work in that hour, when the dew is still down and the air has not yet gone still and hot. Mowing, edging, string trimming, bed maintenance and cleanup, carried through the long North Texas growing season on the farm-to-market roads around town. The craft shows in the small decisions: which way to stripe the cut, where to run the edge, how much to take off a shrub so it looks shaped rather than shorn. By midmorning the truck has moved on and the yard behind it looks composed, which is the whole ambition.
