Shoup's Lawn Care Service

About Shoup's Lawn Care Service

North of Big Spring the country flattens out into cotton, and by October the fields go white while the light turns long and gold across them. Shoup's Lawn Care Service reads that same calendar inside town limits: the last hard growth of the year, then the elms and hackberries letting go all at once into the yards below. Mowing and edging give way to raking and leaf removal, gutalong-the-curb piles cleared, beds emptied out before the first freeze. A yard put to bed properly in the fall is a yard that comes back easier in March, and that thought is worth a cold morning's work. Between the two seasons there is nothing fancy here — just a straight cut, a clean border, and a lot hauled clear of what fell on it.
