Blue jays keep up an argument in the pines all winter here, and beneath them Beaumont's shrubs go on growing through a season other places would call an off month. Mowing and edging continue on the warm-season schedule, with trimming for fence lines and the awkward ground around trees. Clippings and leaves come off walks and drives, and debris is carried away rather than raked to the curb. Come the first hot week, the yard is already in shape instead of catching up.
