About Billy Mayfield Turf Farms

West of Bay City the land flattens into rice prairie, so level you can watch a thunderhead build for an hour before it ever reaches you. Billy Mayfield Turf Farms mows in that wide country light, June sun on the back of the neck, cattle egrets stepping in behind the machine for whatever it stirs up. Grass here answers to heat and humidity and grows like it means it, which makes regular cutting less a chore than a conversation. Trim work around posts and beds, edges held to the concrete, clippings cleared from the walks — the yard reads finished from the road. That is the point of the whole day, and it doesn't get old.
