About Allen Landscaping Works

Allen is built on black prairie clay — ground that drinks a spring rain until it swells, then cracks open like old pottery by the middle of August. A lawn here is a running negotiation with that soil, and the answer is mowing, edging and trimming kept to a rhythm the grass can actually hold. Down in the pecan bottoms the cedar elms keep their shade late into the day, and the yards beneath them want a different cutting height than the wide, sun-flat blocks up on the ridge. Allen Landscaping Works reads that difference street by street, then leaves the drive and the walk clear so the cut line is the first thing you see coming up to the house. It is ordinary work, and it is most of the reason a mid-morning in Allen looks the way it does.
