Don Lawn

About Don Lawn

The first real cool front of October comes down on Abilene like a door opening, and all at once the yards are worth sitting in again. Don Lawn keeps them ready for it with steady mowing through the last warm weeks, edging, trimming, and clearing the leaves and clippings that pile against fences once the wind turns north. Midweek the streets go quiet enough to hear a mower two blocks over, which is its own kind of neighborhood sound. Shrubs get trimmed back off the walk so the front door has room to be a front door. Small yard or big one, the finish is the same: nothing left to sweep.
