Drive a few minutes from Wildwood toward Walland and you can hear the Little River working over its stones, cold and quick even in July. That water sound is a fair description of how a morning of lawn work ought to go — steady, unhurried, and finished before the heat means business. Mowing, trimming, edging and cleanup are the whole menu here, done on a repeating turn so a yard never gets away from its owner. There is real pleasure in the last look back: a straight edge along the drive, the fence line cut clean, the walk swept. Wildwood, Walland, Townsend, Maryville and Rockford are all within an easy run.
