Maynard's Mowing Service

About Maynard's Mowing Service

The Calfkiller River loops past the edge of Sparta with fog lying on it most mornings, and the bottomland along it grows grass like it has something to prove. Maynard's Mowing Service cuts those yards all through the green months — mowing, trimming, edging and hauling off what comes up — then trades the deck for a blade and plows the very same drives once the cold sets in. Late June evenings are the ones worth staying out for: sun going orange over the Rim, the last stripe laid down straight, the whole place smelling like fresh cut. January pays differently but just as plainly, with a driveway opened to the road while the porch light is still burning. Both halves of the year, same yards, same care, right here in White County.
