About Lane's Forestry & Excavating

Snow lasts longer up in the timber than it does in town; under the oaks on the plateau it will sit for days after the valley has gone back to mud. Lane's Forestry & Excavating covers that whole range of elevation around Soddy-Daisy in winter — plowing and clearing drives and lanes, opening lots, and salting the frozen pitches on the way up. Woods roads teach a person how to move on a grade, how to read a shaded curve, and when the right speed is barely any speed at all. Getting a household down off a ridge road, or a loaded truck up one, is worth every hour of cold hands. The forest keeps its white a while longer, which is a fine thing to drive home past.
