Five Arrows Lawn

About Five Arrows Lawn

Out past Readyville the land goes to cedar and thin limestone soil, the kind of ground that grows tough grass and asks a mower to earn its cut. Five Arrows Lawn keeps a steady round through the yards along the Rutherford and Cannon county line — mowing, edging against concrete and gravel, trimming the corners and slopes, hauling leaves once the hardwoods in the hollows turn loose. Springs come green and sudden in this part of Middle Tennessee, and a yard can go from dormant to knee-high in two weeks of rain. Staying ahead of that is most of the job. The other part is the finish: an even height, a sharp edge, and a lawn that looks deliberate right up to where the field takes over.
