About Kirksmowngo

The route is the job. A Portland week runs as a loop — town lots off the main street, then out past the last streetlight to the places where the mailboxes stand far apart — and it repeats until the grass stops. Kirksmowngo runs that loop with mowing, trimming, edging and clipping cleanup, ramp down, cut, ramp up, on to the next. There is a rhythm to it that sounds like summer in this town: engines in the morning, quiet by the middle of the afternoon, everything cut and nobody having to think about it. Doing the same thing well at the same time each week is not glamorous, but it is what keeps a yard looking deliberate all season. Come the first frost the loop shortens, and come spring it opens back up.
