This town took its name from water — the mineral springs that once drew people up under the mountain — and Oliver Outdoors works the ground those springs run through. Spring here is redbud and dogwood along the county roads, and the mowing, trimming and edging begin before the last frost has entirely finished arguing. When the cold months come the tools change to plow, shovel and salt, because a dusting in the valley can lie deep on the roads just above it. It is one year in one set of hands: the first cut of April and the first pass of the season, the same houses, the same gravel turnarounds. Whatever the calendar is doing to a yard, it gets met head on.
