This is a town that moved uphill: when the water rose behind the dam in the 1940s, New Johnsonville was rebuilt on higher ground above the Tennessee River, and its lawns have been sloping and sunny ever since. Southern Edge Lawn Care works those slopes all year — mowing and trimming from the first green flush of spring through the heavy growth of August, then clearing leaves once the hardwoods let go. Winter turns the truck to snow and ice work, plowing drives and opening walks on the handful of mornings when Middle Tennessee wakes up white. Slope is the thing here: water and ice both run downhill, so drives get cleared from the top and treated where the grade bites hardest.
