The Greathouse Company

About The Greathouse Company

Germantown's brick sidewalks were laid for walking, and they punish a careless shovel and an untrimmed edge equally. The Greathouse Company keeps those blocks in order year-round — mowing and edging the pocket lawns, trimming the strips between tree wells and the street, then plowing and shoveling the same ground when the temperature drops. In summer the neighborhood is porch light and tomato plants; in January it is a row of brick fronts under a thin white line. Working narrow historic streets means going slow enough to protect the brick and the beds while still finishing the whole block. Detail is not optional here, and that is what makes it good work.
