TerraScape

About TerraScape

Southeast of Murfreesboro the land begins to climb toward the Highland Rim, and the road out toward Bradyville catches ice a good hour before town does. TerraScape watches that edge in winter, because elevation and shade are what decide where this county actually freezes. The work is plowing, opening drives and walkways, and laying salt on the places the sun will not touch until noon. There is a plain, physical pleasure in it — black pavement behind the blade, a property open for the day, everybody else's morning going on as normal. Winter here is occasional, but it is not gentle, and it rewards whoever is already awake.
