Blue Ridge Services

About Blue Ridge Services

Greene County lies in a wide valley with mountains standing on both sides, and on a clear winter night the cold pours off them and settles over Mosheim's fields until the frost stands up like fur. When a storm crosses instead, Blue Ridge Services does the snow work: plowing drives and lots, opening farm lanes and shop yards, shoveling walks, and salting the places that ice back over after dark. The valley roads run straight between the barns out here, and they drift wherever the wind gets a clear shot at them. Work begins before the first light shows behind the ridge to the east. There is nothing complicated in it — only the difference between a place you can get out of in the morning and one you can't.
