Memphis Landscape

About Memphis Landscape

Before dawn in January the bluff above the Mississippi holds the cold the way it holds the fog, and the streets running back from Riverside come up gray and hard. Memphis Landscape is out in those hours whenever the city gets a real freeze — plowing what needs plowing, opening driveways and front walks, salting the shaded stretches that never quite let go. Snow here is rare enough to count as an event, which is exactly why a cleared drive at daybreak lands like a gift. The trucks move quietly through neighborhoods still asleep, and by the time the coffee is poured the way out is open. That is the entire job, and it is done all the way to the pavement.
