About C.F. Hillis, Inc.

The hours nobody sees are the ones that decide a winter day. When ice glazes the pavement overnight along the roads running out of McMinnville toward Sparta and Woodbury, C.F. Hillis, Inc. is out ahead of the traffic, pushing snow off drives and lots and laying salt where the shade keeps the melt from ever coming. Warren County does not get winter often, but when it does it arrives all at once and takes the whole place sideways. There is a plain kind of pride in a parking lot that is black and wet at seven in the morning while the fields around it are still white. That is the whole job — making sure the ordinary day can happen anyway.
