About Proctor Family Tree Service

Big Ridge rises just south of Maynardville with park woods on one side and pasture on the other, and Highway 33 threads the valley north past barns, hayfields and long gravel lanes. Proctor Family Tree Service works that stretch, dropping a dead oak whole in an open field where it can fall clean, sectioning one down when it stands between a house and a fence, trimming limbs off tin roofs, pruning young trees so they grow up with one straight leader. When a line of thunderstorms comes through Union County in July, the morning after is downed wood across gates and driveways, and the crew hauls every bit of it out. The pasture ends up clear enough to mow and the lane wide enough to drive. That is how a working place stays workable.
