River fog comes up off the Holston at Mascot and hangs in the bottoms until the sun clears the ridge, and the grass down there stays soaked long past breakfast. Palmer Landscaping starts on the high ground and works downhill as the day dries, mowing, trimming, edging drives, keeping beds clean and freshly mulched. This is old mining country turned to pasture and yards, ground that rolls and drops without much warning, and cutting it clean takes a considered line. Fall means leaves off the lawn and out of the beds; spring means the first hard mow and borders re-drawn. A tidy yard above a river bend is a fine thing to leave behind at the end of a day.
