About HIS Ground, LLC

Three in the morning in Rockford has a sound all its own — no traffic on the old Knoxville highway, no light but the truck's, the ground going hard and white in the fields on both sides. HIS Ground, LLC works those hours through the cold months, plowing drives, scraping walks clean and putting salt down where a slope would otherwise turn slick by first light. The point of the shift is that no one ever sees it. People wake, look out, and the way to the road is open. In a valley that takes its snow in short violent bursts, being out ahead of it is the entire discipline.
